Doesn't missing one eye reduce his spatial judgement, increasing the likelihood of crashing into things?
Hope he heals soon and without problems.

It’s a running joke that Goobz is shit at catching balls since he lost an eye, but then again he was shit at catching balls before he lost an eye. He just just everything at full stupid speed.

Alf's lump on his tinkler turned out to be an ingrowing hair. Video may be proper shit as quite low res.

I don't know why I clicked on that given that I knew what would be in there but you really just put me off my raclette.

So we've been seriously considering a second dog for a while now. Ideal candidate (similar breed, good temperament, young) etc has popped up for adoption.
Just trying to rationalise things - is it a daft idea to go from one very settled and trouble free dog to a second that's a relative unknown? We're also moving house in 5 weeks so any immediate toilet training incidents will happen in a rental property.
Pros/cons here?

Pros:
A young dog will learn from the dog you have.
It should settle better than if it was your only dog.
If the current dog will be alright in the new place then so will the new dog.
They'll get on like a house on fire.Cons:
None of the above will happen and it will be a terrible idea.We got a pup when our first rescue dog had been with us for a couple of years. He hated being near the puppy but it persevered and they became as thick as thieves within a month. Our first dog has a few challenging behaviours but they love each other.
Who needs cottonwool buds when you're an anteater?

Yes, but surely when he still had stereometric vision his ineptitude would have been due to (more) youthful exuberance (I'm sure he still has lots of it), and that would have been made worse by the loss of vision? Obviously, it's hard to compare. It makes you feel for him, as it's unlikely he has any way of understanding what has happened, although hopefully may be able to manage his actions more carefully from painful experience. He was certainly one of the shyest and sweetest dogs I've ever met (and for dogs, that's saying something), although that was years ago.

Sidney has the most exuberance and delight at everything. He finds anything as reason to wag his tail and be excited. Walk into a room and rub his tummy and his tail wags, play with Olive and his tail wags, talk to Annie and his tail wags. His excitement at nearly anything is wonderful and he delights when others are happy.
Everything is done at full tilt. Even when injured he runs at full pelt, there is no ability to moderate or temper his actions. He frequently splits his tail open just by excitedly whacking it against things - cause and effect do not occur to him, life is simply a stream of existence. I find his joy infectious and often consider him to be one of the most enlightened beings I have ever met, as he seems to only exist in “the now”.

Hm, they do say that dogs become like their companion humans. :)

truth...ours is the sweetest to the ones he likes and aggro to the ones he doesn't. I think I took him on too many rides in London when a puppy, he learnt from the best/worst...

That just involves a lot of shouting right?

Our poor Whippet, Otto, slipped a disk in his back on the 28th of Jan.
He was really lucky, nerve damage was minimal and his legs are working fine now. He's not in any pain either. Full recovery expected.
However...he's on crate rest for another week. It is heartbreaking to lock a young dog away in a cage full time apart from toilet breaks. I hope he forgives us when this is over! I've spent the last 5 days sitting in front of his crate keeping him company while I work on my laptop.

She's good at following a trail (or a bike) and is certainly faster than me.

So sad. How did he do it? My whippet is now 4 months and has just had a nasty tummy bug, so upsetting to see the poor boy suffering!

I’m ready for a new just not sure what breed:
I’m at work 9-5
Needs to be relatively self sufficient
But have a big walk morning and night and all weekend -

They sure do have sensitive stomachs when young. If it's any consolation, Otto has developed an iron constitution as an adult! It did seem like he had the squits more often than not for a while when he was a pup...
No idea how it happened. We just found him whimpering and quivering one morning. Apparently it can happen from the slightest thing if you're susceptible. He's too young for it to be a degenerative condition, probably bad luck and an injury from hairing around the woods that suddenly got worse over night.

Amazing. No chance I'd be able to say no. I think you knew that yourself when you went along.
very much like the idea but seems to be more adequate for short ride on flat bar...Not sure about touring. I think trailer is more suited for touring. I had a good look for the last hour and it seems that these two products have great review:
https://www.athleteshop.co.uk/doggyride-dog-cart-mini-trailer-red
https://www.athleteshop.co.uk/doggyride-dog-cart-novel-10-orange-gray
The mini is small, light (9kg) and relatively cheap but does not allow to carry anything else than your dog really....
The novel 10 is bigger (too big for a frenchie really) and heavier (approx 15kg)....But it has more space and a nice rack on the top that would allow me to carry more stuff...It also have bigger wheels which might be better on the road?
I guess it all depends on how much I want to carry....but the mini sounds good on paper really especially for my needs.
