  • provisional dibs - where are you?

  • I’m in Kensal Green but will be central next Sunday or the following weekend.

  • Oh yeah, that looks ideal. Highly appropriate bike. Granita and coffee just out of shot ;-)

  • A few more home developed shots:

  • looking good!

  • Nice shots, I like the last and the one in the park with everyone looking different directions.

  • Spent today in the dark room, getting to grips with the big enlarger, and making prints from 6x9 120 film. Got through most of a 50 box of 9 1/2"x 12" paper, just practising technique really. Deliberately chose some challenging negs to make prints from, and am pretty happy with how they were turning out by the end of the day. For the next session; I've got a box of satin 20" x 16".
Was working with a friend, so we mostly used shots I took on a climbing trip, we went on together, a while back. Would have liked to have made some more interesting prints, from better photographs, but just trying to get to grips with everything this session, to really start making some keepers next time. He kept a selection of today's spoils, and have given some of the better ones away, but this is what's left over. If it goes well. I might start making some big prints and framing them, to sell. Does anyone have any experience of this? Any pointers?

Also... I'm about to cycle around morroco for a month with my gw690 and as much colour 120 film as I can get my hands on. Leaving next week, and have budgeted to buy 2 boxes. Am thinking of going for portra 160: I think it'll work really well with the Moroccan colours. Any other suggestions? I think I've got a few rolls of ektachrome 64 in the freezer, along with some other misc 120 rolls. Will probably take it all. Can never have too much film!

  • Prints look great, you doing split grade with filters? Or colour head?

Also here's another Scala 160 scan.

  • Random question - how would you go about trying to print a 2000 page colour photo book?

  • by printing it as a series of smaller volumes? :P

  • Not a bad idea to be fair. Was just thinking it would be a fun project to print the entirety of my blog in one book. One image per page etc. Probably a bit bonkers considering the cost tho.

  • Yeah, just had a look at the longest photo book I have (Century) and that is under 1200 pages and is borderline too big to be properly appreciated.

  • I'd split it across a few books.

  • Yeah, I’d go with the advice above. You’ll lose people’s interest if it’s too big and they’ll tend just to flick through after a while.

  • accidentally won F100 on ebay, whats a good 28mm autofocus lens for that?

  • Would anyone know where I could get some camera kit valued/sold? I got given a collection of bodies and lenses by my father-in-law but I won't use it so wanted to sell it on to someone who can.

  • What have you got? You could get an estimate on here.

  • I can take some pics and make a list, will post later today or this week.

  • Ace camera. Kinda like a 35mm d700.

The af-d f2.8 was good iirc.

  • Ektar for the markets? Are you going to be in the dunes? Perhaps something ultra-slow and fine grain b&w for tasty dunescapes. Silvermax, Delta 100 or something? Sounds ace.

  • Ace camera

Especially for the price they are now.

  • Some lovely stuff over the last few pages, especially from @Rik_Van_Looy

I had a roll developed and it's a got those weird black spots you can faintly see on them. Development issue? Or scan? Always on the same side of the negative.

  • @JB once i had some sticky residiue/gooey stuff on my negatives because the machine had issues, looked similar when scanned.
brought it all back and they cleaned them and scanned again

  • I’m on a couple of camera collecting forums. Whenever someone comes on and asks “what’s this worth?” the polite answer is to “use eBay”, and only take notice of what they sold for, not what people are asking.

Old camera kit is worth very little unless it contains the word Leica or Rollieflex. So my little collection is probably worth less than I actually paid for it :-(
