Cheers, was thinking along those lines too.

They are the larger Radial's and tyres are 700x30

+1; and maybe some helicopter tape on the inside of the fork?

Anyone got some spare (and unwanted) VO mudguard hardware? Just want to check before I order it.

I made mine for £3.15 + 40min cutting and installing it (glue). Got a rubber sheet from here (300 x 200; 2mm):

Anyone tries these Blumels Primus guards?
-
• #3408
They are shite
-
• #3409
Why, poor coverage? Should I just got with longboards again?
-
• #3410
flexy material and single stay dont mix well, wobbly AF. Longboards/Chromoplastic/Bluemels always.

Any tips for unwarping a bluemels front guard (cough cough @Amey ). I've only just got around to mounting, but its totally twisted. Probably my fault for the way I zip tied it to my bag to take it home. I've tried twisting it the other way and holding for a few minutes but it always springs back. Kill it with fire?

Anybody tried mounting a front light on the mudguard? How did it work out? I've seen it on a couple of Talbots. Bit worried about vibrations. Velo Lumino recommends to not use their mount without extra support like a rack. http://www.velolumino.com/at-headlight-mount.html

Yep, either rack support and/or steel/alu fenders.
-
• #3415
You think alu mudguards would work without support?
-
• #3416
I think a zeppelin style or similarly reinforced one with a relatively short extension would, yes.

BEAUTIFUL

I have Mud Butlers (v. similar to the velo orange hammered guards) and I reckon they'd be stiff enough to support a light. Not tried it, but they are pretty rigid.

I think those might work, but there are always more caveats like size of light, mounting system and front extension as stated earlier.
It comes down to trying it out and see if it's stable enough for your purposes and riding style. -

Last check before I order stuff from Freshtripe. Also happy to share postage if anyone needs bits, London based and happy to meet (>>>>>>> awkward lonely hearts ads...)

So fresh and so clean 🎵

A few of the bikes at my shop have these stock. They're rattly, the leading end of the front fender is generally too short, and the fenders are generally too narrow, resulting in a lot of side-spray.

So good. The only place I've seen where yellow bar tape seems appropriate!
If you mould the guard (but leave it intact), you may find it fouls the tyre.
Cutting the front of the mudguard off seems a little drastic (not to mention counter-productive).
I'd trim the guard where it meets the forks. Depending upon how much you have to remove, you might need to bodge a stiffener to prevent the nose drooping.
