Tha review of the apple chargers have always been 1 star. People moan, I have never had to replace any of my Mac charger. If you change your mind, the offer is there, maybe buy the apple one, use it until you come back and return it within 14 days? I am a cheapstake, so...
Anyway, I am based in Elephant and Castle in case you want to pop round next week, just let me know the night before so I stick it in my bag.

That's really kind thank you - though when I woke up this morning I realised I'd need it for the weekend as I'm off on a week of shooting from Saturday and tied up today, so might as well suck it up and pop down to the Apple store at lunch. At least the wire will be white and not 'dirt' coloured : /
Annoyingly EVERY review of the charger on the Mac website says it's awful quality and they need replacing every year - I've had mine since I bought the laptop and it's been fine - hope they haven't changed the recipe or something :/
