  • So, we did the house buying thing some months ago and it has a massively long garden for a terraced house here, ~19-20m.

So obviously the first thing I did was get down to designing the shed of my dreams. Gotta be big enough to work on bikes in, store a few of the excess ones, provide an area for planty stuff, with an adjoining greenhouse, while not being too massive and looking pretty.

Oh, and also we're going to turn the old shed into a chicken penthouse.

  • Have a subscription from a jealous flat-dweller

  • Nice. I'm seriously thinking if I can covertly add a basement to my next shed.

  • How will you go about building these chickens?

  • I think you need eggs first... but then for those maybe you need chickens? More research needed

  • Don’t bother with chickens

They are costly to look after, you will have the pleasure of the most stupidly expensive fresh eggs.

If the house is terraced you’ll piss off your neighbours and it is hard to find chicken sitters when you go away on holiday.

  • Says the guy who has ridiculous dogs with their own meat freezer

  • Got me there.

  • Now dreaming of shed basement. Gotta have somewhere to keep the bodies

  • Colin furze made a pretty spiffy shed basement.

Chickens are complete wankers, don’t get them if you’re in town...

  • Did the whole chicken thing. Never, ever again. Noise, shit, rats.

  • That's amazing. And mad.

Kate has had chickens forever. We have plenty of willing chicken sitters. And we're not getting a cockerel, obvs. I'll have no more anti-chook sentiment in my shed thread

  • Get special needs dogs that require their own meat freezer instead.

  • Chickens are a fucking hassle and just get eggs from someone else stupid enough to have their own chickens.

  • Do they need walking everyday?

  • Yes. Yes you know it. And @edmundro you've added add fuel to the fire.

  • We have a special needs cat, that’s enough for us.
At least she doesn’t need acres to play in or her own freezer.

  • I'm starting a chicken mood board

  • Weirdly in my halls at uni there was a competition among the stoners to find pictures of the fanciest/most bizarre chickens they could find.
Fridges were plastered in pics of the fluffy buggers.
    This lasted all year.

  • This time next year...

  • The tall ones are by far the weirdest

  • deej is just jealous 'cause you can't eat dog eggs

  • Everyone who visits asks us “when are you getting chickens?”

Fuck that shit. My folks had chickens when I was a kid. Bantam cockerels are horrible creatures the small man of the chicken world. My sister has spent a fortune on rearing chickens, solar powered coup etc. Brother in law reckons the eggs cost over a pound each.

Fresh eggs are awesome and poach so well. But I can buy them from 10 other households in our village.
