I rarely summon the courage to request a portrait from a stranger
Should do it more often

Walk around with a TLR, you'll get stopped a lot to talk about the camera and people are only to happy to oblige for a portrait.

yes, I've heard this said of various forms of classic camera - I must get out more with the leica.
