I was considering ordering a gravel frame from Aliexpress at some point too. But decided to go with NS Rag instead, and I'm really happy I did. It's my first complete OTP bike, and it'm really pleased with it. Ton of fun.

This is such an awesome bike.

I can't decide whether to build a light fast 27.5 mtb or a gravel bike.

my heart wants a mtb, but the land around me wants a gravel bike.

Why is the mtb excluded from the gravel?

we are literally sounded by endless gravel roads. not much single track to speak of.

MTBs actually work on gravel roads.

Maybe you could get a nice hardtail thing that you can also use for bike packing? It'll work nice on gravel and lets you hit the trails once in a while

Pretty flat and therefore windy in Iowa? You might prefer drop bars to grovel under into the headwinds rather than more upright MTb position?

Tour Divide style bike would be good for this kinda thing. MTB with aero bars.
