My plan is to try and run 1x10 on my touring mtb with a friction shifter without shelling out for a paul thumbie.

I have a broken 10 speed XT shifter, various barend shifters a dremel and some tools.

Anyone tried this before ? I saw Ultraromance (Beardy radavist chap) running Sram eagle 12 speed with friction. but not bar mounted.

You probably wouldn't need that kind of modification for 10sp cable pull. SJS sell cheap thumbie mounts

Thanks that seems a good idea. How about fact i'l be using a clutch Mech (SLX) would the friction in the derailleur overpower the shifter ?
