  • Try and jack the car up under the suspension, then remove wheel and torque up the nut and then the split pin.

  • I did try that yesterday with no luck, but now the nut has actually traveled up the thread I can't see why that wouldn't work. Thanks a lot, will give it a go.

  • Are the threads mangled?

  • I don't think so but will take a proper look tomorrow just to check everything. I have a couple of rubber covers incoming so will be replacing the cracked ones and fitting new castle nuts/split pins for good measure.

  • Wander over to screwfix as they have a couple of cheap tap and die sets that would be acceptable to use to clean threads.

Also cheap forged steel branded rachets.

  • Any decent hydro system cit will do the job.

  • Why would that be? The suspension?

  • Top work @jambon. Not too ham-fisted at all.

  • Depreciation is the best thing about french cars. Great cars for cheap!

  • @BRM citroen C6 is a future classic I think. Surprisingly I see them all the time here. I think their only real issue was the auto.

  • What you did there I see it. Thanks, really enjoying the process of learning and will hopefully end up with a cheap fun car. When I've sorted a few things on my list will think about power, but I'm in no rush.

  • Thought this was the most appropriate thread

  • I went through a phase of cx,bx and xm with knackered suspension. The spheres can rupture so go hard that they damage the rear wishbone bearings. Time consuming but not hard. Used to have sets of rear wish bones and swapped them, then replaced the bearings in my own time. Also used to rebuild the sliding suspension legs when they preasurise the return system. Also cleaning out and replacing the fluid in the reservoir. Some needed cleaning out with hydrogage cleaner. The spheres could be tweaked to get amazing handling.

Used to buy the fluid in carreforre 1/4 to a 1/5 of the price here. Joy of using andyspares and a mate that worked at a citroen dealer.

  • Exactly, cits are not hard to work on if you have the time. Parts available every where. I have also read long threads about tuning the ride and handling by swapping sphere's as they all have different valving/diaphragms depending on model. Apparently by the time they stopped production on the s2 xm the hydractive suspension was 100 sorted.

  • A6 Turbo went pop, Car currently in Lancaster and I'm back on the rock.
    The bill £2700 plus change.
    I feel like Dammit.
Oh Well ready to collect on Monday, subject to the boat not being cancelled.

  • Got mine delivered today, doesn't fit as they don't snap into place. Hopefully fine as they come with a 30 day return policy, but of course they're now scratched...

  • In dammit terms that is a steering wheel swap...

  • I was one of the nothing better to do that worked some of the spheres specs. Also regassing spheres was quite easy once you know how.

Oh before the days of the internet

  • Quick evening test drive last night and all seems good with the coilovers.

On max soft the ride is alot smoother and quieter than before and very bareable which was my biggest fear. I did spray silicone lubricant on all bushes to breathe a bit of life into them but very satisfying how it rides smoother and quieter.

Max hard wasn't comfy but you could certainly feel a lot more through the steering wheel. I imagine I need to push the car more than possible on the road to get a better idea but initially very impressed with the change.

  • You should be able to purchase adapters to make them fit. What car do you have again?

  • Saab 9-5, 2007.

I didn't get the same ones as you, found a swedish shop with a good rep and returns policy. Much more monies, but as it's a bit of a chance I thought I'd go safe

Spoke to them this morning, and the lamp itself detaches from the ring that snaps into place, so they suggested to try mounting that first on its own

  • Also read somewhere online last night that there's a huge drop on voltage to the headlamps on 9-5's, someone had just 9.5V at the bulb. Must make a huge difference when you only have 80% of the power

  • It's not that uncommon on most halogen bulb'd cars - i made an add on bit of loom with a relay to ensure the full voltage from the alternator actually gets to the bulb, that makes a significant upgrade

  • Time to get the multimeter out!

  • Never mind
