    I'm not saying you're wrong, cause I heard this argument a lot. But I always wonder if this is really so.. To me the 11 on my cassette doesn't feel any slower than the others. Had a 1x10 setup for a while where my biggest ratio was 38/11, this didn't seem to be any slower than 50/14 or 50/15.

    Still think both small and big cogs are fine for track bikes.

    A chain is comprised of a series of straight sections (ie the links), when wrapped around large sprockets this is less apparent and friction is reduced.
