So eight years ago I bought this 1983 Koga-Miyata Gent's Racer from classifieds on here. It was in impeccable condition and arrived looking like this...
It wasn't until recently that I realised that it had been refinished by a previous owner and this wasn't actually the original paint job...
Original 1983 brochure entry for posterity...
Cut forward to many moons later and after letting a mate have a lend of it for a few of those years where it didn't quite get the tlc I would usually give my bikes it's a bit tired but still looking pretty...
In the time my mate had it he got rear-ended by a car and the back rim was knackered beyond repair so he kindly had it replaced with a H+Son TB14 which has since rusted and corroded quite a bit and looks pants so I've already picked up a set of Mavic Open Pro CD rims to rebuild/ build a new set of wheels...
I'm at the point now where I'm open to some suggestion as what to do, I'm tempted to go for a more modern groupset with brifters and ideally I'd fancy something black and snazzy looking, no preference for SRAM, Shimano or Campagnolo.
I'd probably get the frame refinished too but I'm really fond of the blue and white with red logos so it'll probably just be kept the same. One of the top tube cable guides is slightly damaged too so it would be nice to have that repaired.
Any suggestions for groupset and or hubs? I wouldn't mind going for a 1x10 set up but I haven't looked into what hub spacing this will work with and I'm guessing my old frame will probably be too narrow for it?
I'll add another build in here...
