Samson Illusion Sparkly NJS goodness

Made an incredibly reckless purchase just before the new year from @gubhi but just couldn’t help it… selling some bits and pieces off to afford this one so may take a wee while to complete. Wanting to go full NJS apart from the wheelset as it’ll be used brakeless on roads and I don’t fancy working my way through a bunch of tubs..

Will be taking my sugino 75bb, crankset and a zen chainring from another bike for it and have started ordering some other bits and pieces for it to start coming together. My hatta Swan super deluxe headset just arrived yesterday and my wheelset is just being built over in Tokyo. Had considered a wheelset I had already with low profile rims, but saw these Araya SA730s and just kind of fell in love so getting them built to DA7600s with hoshi double butted spokes

I have heard these rumours, what I meant to say, for any officers listening, was that these roads will all be closed and anyone nearby will be forewarned by email and given a free high five as recompense.

Threw a wee couple bits on just to give myself an idea of how it will look, and whether white saddle/bartape was a good choice. I am kind of digging the flat bar, but have a set of b127s or 123s I’ll probably use for that full track vibe

the arayas are really nice.. would even go with suntour superbe pro, since your flakes are golden. so what about yellow bar tape or another goldish touch there?

Ahh, I'm sorry,, actually just boxed the orrell up this morning... It's going to a good owner though, the guy it was originally built by Neil for got in touch so it's heading back home.
Yeah I'd actually thought of the suntours, but have a set of the 7600s already and love them.
I have a white saddle on the way, and had thought of white grips and the ivory strap, but some gold in there somewhere might be really nice, cheers!

Finally got everything together for the build, full Njs minus the wheelset ( but I wanted clincher instead of tub for brakeless and did full japanese build with Dura ace 7600hb) and the cog, but this cog was gold and red, I mean come on, I had to..

Haha right enough, taking the bike to Florida in a couple weeks so have a set of MKS supreme pedals, white njs straps and some adjustable toe clips waiting there, saved me a fucking fortune in shipping and customs!!

Just a holiday, my folks are over there, but a bike case counts as my luggage allowance and I’ll just throw a couple tshirts and socks in my carry on haha

This is as built as it’s worth doing before the Florida trip and I have time to get everything dialled in properly, don’t worry, the saddle angle will change!!
