Have you never seen the delight on a small euro-child's face when he or she gets his or her hands on a 6 inch (approx 15 centimetres) replica of that most iconic of British inventions, the red telephone box? The sudden understanding in that child's mind of what real pride is? Not the shoddy * fierte de Bruxelles* but strong, passionate (and yet surprisingly tender) British pride. The reason millions of men, women and horses laid down their lives on the beaches, hedgerows, landing grounds and culs de sac.
