I'd say the best way is to follow the xda thread for your phone. 30min or so with a pc and a usb cable and it will be done.

What are the best options for a 10 inch Android tablet these days? It'll mainly be used for web browsing and casting children's tv shows to the chromecast, with the odd video shot on it (by an 8 year old).
Is the Tesco Hudl still good value?

Amazon Fire tablet would be my choice. You may have to 'mod' it to use Chromecast though.

Moto X Play has stopped working. Display won’t do anything, so can’t tell if it’s on or off or doing owt behind the scenes. Have tried rebooting via the volume and power button routine, but no joy. Occasionally it vibrates, but I can’t tell why. Anyone got any ideas?
Failing that, any recommendations for a new handset? I want Android, a decent camera, sub £200 for SIM free. Moto g5 seems the obvious choice.

Advice needed please.
Mrs has an android phone. She paid for some music to calm the baby in the car. Today when she went to play it, phone said she had run out of data on her plan so couldn’t play. If she has purchased it why does it need data? Is purchased music held on a cloud rather than the phone? Is there a way round this? Purchased via google play.

Probably have the choice of streaming or downloading if it's purchased. Get it on WiFi and then download it.

Google play will stream by default, but there are various options. Once she's on wifi, if she looks at the specfic album it will have a download icon next to the album name. You can also go into settings and change if it caches music, and only let it stream on WiFi to save data

Nexus 5x giving up. Is pixel2 worth it or will pixel1 make me truly happy at half the money?

I love my pixel1 XL.

How long have you had it? Any issues at all?
-
• #19392
Had it about a year. No issues at all.
My wife had the non XL and it had to be returned and replaced after WiFi failed on it.

Xiaomi Mi A - https://thesolutionshop.global/product/mi-a1-4gb-ram-32gb/
Sub £200, Pure Android, Great reviews and the Solutions Shop are UK based so no customs problems and much easier returns.
I kind of wish I'd ordered one instead of the Xiaomi Mi6 that I've ordered off Gearbest...

Looks good, but slightly annoying that it doesn't come in a 5 inch option. Pretty frustrated with all these longphones these days - was eagerly awaiting the Redmi 5 range but they've turned those into longphones as well without even upgrading the processor. Guess I'm staying with my Redmi 4 until it dies.

If you're a light mobile data user and looking for a new contract phone, this is a pretty good deal: Pixel 2 64GB, £100 upfront (use "10OFF" to get it for £90), £18/month. I have no idea what, if any, pitfalls there are by ordering through this site but I'm about to find out.

2 year contract though. I hate long contracts for smartphones. Probably less of an issue now they're all kinda good enough but in the early days on Android when stuff was changing rapidly, phones would be out of date in 6 months.
£522 for 2 years
vs.
£489 SIM-free + ~£15/month seems like a decent saving for, say, my missus who doesn't use much data and isn't that mindful of upgrades. -

1GB of data is closer to £5/month if you don't want unlimited text and minutes (which still doesn't make it cheaper, but just less of a bargain)
-
• #19398
I think she's paying £15/month

Maybe O2 is a spendy option but it tends to work where we find ourselves so I'd be hesitant to move away.
