  • Thanks for the info this is really helpful. I was configuring one on the Brompton website and seeing what's the difference in weight saving and granted there is a lot saved in the gears options and lights options I was to go via the dynamo route as well.

    I think at the moment i have no bike to play around with and I always love the idea to have a Brompton, however, weight of the damn thing took me by surprised and kind of the reason i want to know if anyone has made/modified one before. Granted it will be a silly project i know. The only other lightweight folding but i know is the carbon fibre hummingbird for 3.5k.

    There are a few stories on the internet I have been reading where people have got their Brompton to about just under 9kg, which IMO isn't really weenie weight in this day and age.

  • Dynamo options are Shimano, SP, Schmidt or Schmidt XS, I would consider that in reverse order the best options. The Shimano has some serious resistance and I would personally go for the SP because I couldnt afford the Schmidt!
