It’s a veritable minefield. I towed the MX5 on a trailer with my E39 estate but I’m not sure if it was legal to or not. I didn’t ask the trailer rental but they didn’t stop me either and they had to inspect my licence to give me the trailer so who knows? There’s a thread on pistonheads where some guy who seems to be the guy to ask just replies to everyone who gives a scenario as to whether it’s ok or not.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a guide on towing? An estate is probably on the horizon and I would like to know what I would need to legally tow the racer (say, 1000kg + a set of wheels).
