That sucks. I'm sure he's well paid and all, but can't he go join his own band.
-
• #2078
Getting a paycheck from U2 but not having to go onstage with Bono sounds like the best of both worlds tbh.

Calling dessert pudding
-
• #2080
Grow up.
Pudding, pud, afters. All acceptable terms, especially up north.
-
• #2081
What don't you get about that?
-
• #2082
Ah it's because I'm not from the UK. Pudding has always been a type of dessert to me (rice pudding, Christmas pudding etc.) not a catch all for dessert. So people calling ice cream or cake pudding throws me.
-
• #2083
Ah right. I say "pudding" ("dessert" sounds affected to me, or American, or French), but I also say "tea" for your evening meal, "settee" and "lounge", which are all apparently quite common (as in "as muck") - which I'm not.

• #2084
pudding/dinner/settee/lounge
-
• #2085
U2 were ace up until Rattle & Hum which was wank and their ‘let’s conquer America’ album
So basically everything pre ‘87 and up until ‘The Joshua Tree’
-
• #2086

U r the aspiring middle class aicmfp.
Tho I’m pretty sure I’ve never heard anyone other than an estate agent say ‘reception room’.
-
• #2088
does anyone still have a parlour in their house?
-
• #2089
Dinner = what Londoners might call 'luncheon', in most northern towns.
-
• #2090
Front or back?
-
• #2091
front, I guess, but either
-
• #2092
old-school London caffs still serve dinners (at lunchtime)
-
• #2093
Granddad or Grandpa ?
My wife thinks Grandpa sounds posh.

School ‘dinners’
‘Dinner’ lady -

Grandpa sounds like you ought to have a cousin Enos hereabouts y'all. Grandpapa is proper Victorian posh but any kid heard calling someone that is likely to get mercilessly bullied. Grandad or maybe Pops.
-
• #2097
That fucks me off in sci fi/post-apocalyptic films actually - where kids call their parents 'Papa' and 'Mama'
such an affectation/load of bollocks
-
• #2098
I think Papa and Mama is pretty common usage in them there foreign countries.
-
• #2099
Pops is Your Old Man = father no ?
-
• #2100
Your Old Man
= your penis.
This is getting confusing.
No he's a fully fledged member, just not allowed on stage. His name is Terry Lawless, apparently he plays under the stage. Probably from shame.
