I've never made a zine before.

  • Trying to get back into photography after a bit of a drought, made myself a negative digitiser (using a dslr) as grappling with the scanner was always what put me off developing stuff myself.. anyway here's two from an old roll I developed and digitised today.
Camera probably Ricoh GR1v and film is HP5

  • Looking good!

These remind me again how "there's just something about HP5".
Can't really explain it, maybe it's got something to do with hte fact that I (and everybody around me that time) basically learned b/w photography with this particular film.
It's always a bit on the rough /raw side, honest though, maybe this is it.
I am basically trying out all the different (ISO 400) b/w films there are right now but gotta say seing photos shot on HP5 always make me feel at home.

  • Traditional cubic grain (Tri-X, HP5, Fomapan) vs modern Tubular grain (Delta, TMAX, Acros) I guess

  • Classic.

  • We need more care like this.

  • Yea that makes a difference, still it's much more than that I think.
Looking at the cubic grains Tri-X looks very different to HP5 to me for example.
I'm not familiar with Fomapan yet; actually the shot above is from my first roll.
It's also different to HP5, HP5 seems always more "gritty" to me.

  • I just bought some fomapan 400 for the first time. Will post some when I develop (and if I take anything nice!)

  • New years resolution for 2018: no more pictures of fucking mattresses.

  • By the way @mi7rennie this was also shot with that little Canon - saved it in the wrong folder and just found it now - might actually be the best picture of the whole roll, haha!

  • Cars, or care? Definitely care because I’ve just realised I forgot to crop it properly, whoooops

  • Yea they say the curves ramp up severely when Adox' CMS isn't developed in its dedicated Adotech developer.
I have seen very smooth pictures made with Diafine though so I gave it a shot (see picture above) but well.. think I'll have to try again, maybe be more gentle with the agitation, I don't know.

  • ^ this is Acros 100 in Diafine by the way

    Brilliant.

  • Upgraded my gun with a winder

  • ^ weapon! I fucking loved my Super A and 50mm. Shot it all over the world and the only times it failed was when I'd mess up film loading ... the white rollers on the take-up spool are a bit odd. The lenses though are truly sharp.

  • New years resolution for 2018: no more pictures of fucking mattresses.

    *counts the days* :)

  • According to experience a lot of Berliners buy a fresh one for the new year though, so it will be insanely tempting next week when they throw the old ones out!

  • Upgraded my gun with a winder

..so you have a better grip?
