Plus cantilevers over a Shimano alivio v brakes is insanity.

Cantis were a tenner (genetic from eBay), they stop. That chainset looks good, wish I had seen it earlier, I used the granny ring today so I doubt I'll survive with a single ring.

You be surprise, when you have all 3 chainring, you end up using them, whether if you have just the one, you make do.

If you change your mind the original cranks and BB off my day one are going spare.

For safety's sake get some v brakes though.
