Christmas is a time for reminiscence, and my love for vintage MTB is strong. Gaze upon my largely unsympathetic builds, ye mighty, and weep.
The bike that got me back into mtb, couple of years after my old Cannondale was stolen. Kona Koa Race Light. Original stem, bars, seatpost and fork was nice, but everything else was cheap and nasty, so swiftly replaced. Developed a massive hole in the seat tube. RIP
Replaced with this Saracen Kili Comp. Probably had more riding time than any other bike I own. Currently half-stripped and in need of TLC :(
Kuwahara Cheetah. Absurd fun. Survived the South Downs with those semi slicks and only a front brake. Has hauled many objects. Now lives with a friend who loves it very much.
Had to tick a Stumpjumper off my "to own" list. Also passed onto a friend and living the commuter life in London
NOS Raleigh Special Products 450 MTB frame fulfilling my Reynolds 853 and touring requirements.
Orange Clockwork C-16R, with dem segmented forks, built with tasty og XTR for another friend. One of my faves
Now spend most of my time riding an Explosif, which might as well be a retrobike, except it's reliable.
Still would love to get my leg over an original Bontrager and Ritchey. Dream own would be a Fat Chance
