I actually did uncover the answer to my question: You need to tap the icon of the Kickr Snap multiple times in the Android app, in order to "unlock" the Advanced Spindown. At first glance it now reads much much better, looked pretty close to what my Powertap did, although of course the flywheel measure thing means it's a bit less jumpy ...
