Having looked through old gpx files ( and removed my to & from the station mileage ) the average Badger ride actually works out between 15-17 miles. Partly because of this, and also because this is the first one, I think 50km will be a decent distance to try out first.
Also won't have a chance to pre-ride the route, so the first one will be kind of made up as we go along :-)

Yep, also I think there's the temptation to 'pad out' the 50 miles with lots of easier fireroad stuff. I'd still like to get in as much singletrack as possible.
