I noticed a big improvement in getting a consistent shot when I started spending 10 seconds stirring up the grounds with a cocktail stick after grinding. I don't bother with the yoghurt pot though, easy enough to do without spilling grounds everywhere.

That’s chanelling you've got there. Firstly make sure you’re using high quality, freshly roasted coffee, then work on your dose / distribution / tamping. Best place to start is reducing your dose and going finer on the grind to give you a more compact coffee puck and less path of least resistance.
Neither the naked PF or the machine are causing it, it’s just demonstrating weaknesses in the preparation.
Edit; soz, didn’t see all the replies on the new page. ^ what they said.

Great thank you guys. I already use a cup to ensure I've got all the grinds in the PF. I weigh my beans before and after grind.
How do you guys work on the preparation of your ground coffee in the PF when the PF is quite deep? On mine it doesn't to be just a case of levelling the grounds as they're "inside" the PF.
I might try the tooth pick trick to avoid "crumbs".

@StevePeel still shipping before Christmas or did I foolishly just place that order?
In any event, looking forward to that Guji Uraga.

@StevePeel
Hi Steve, is there any chance of letter box friendly packaging for subscriptions? That would be great if possible.
Cheers and Happy Christmas!
-
• #13985
^ seconded! From memory it's been flagged before but really would be useful esp for subs though appreciate less feasible when we order by the kg

Yes, I’m working on it, just need to sort out the mailing envelopes with the printers. Hoping to have it sorted in January.

I’m in town for a meeting about coffee stuff in Hackney. Transport from Euston to N8 looked tricky so I took a Boris bike. ‘Hey, where’s the nearest docking point?’ ‘Hoxton mate’ FML.

You should have said, I would have ordered a couple of kgs of Espresso Blend.
BTW, the Espresso Blend does not show on your webshop atm...

Ok so I bought a hario kettle based on advice of people here. Is anyone making two cups of coffee i.e 36g of Cofee and 400ml of water in the same filter into a coffee pot. Any guidance appreciated!
-
• #13994
Edit. Missed all the posts.
Yes. I’ve always put it down to bad distribution and tamping. Or your porterfilter isn’t tight enough when locked into group head.

Using a V60?
36g to 400ml would be a very high dose. I've been getting on well with 60g per litre for drips and 68g per litre for immersion brews.
If you want to make a 400ml pot with a V60 try 24g of coffee first and then go from there.

I use 45gram for 750ml of water, v60 size 2, medium roast supermarket beans. Usually a great cup.

Coffee cold brewed with Cinnamon tastes a bit like Cola. Had a sample today, nice.
They're looking at a carbonated brew version too for fizz in the future.
