  • An awful lot of Tims round here

  • Tim Henmans?

  • I really dont rate her as an actress, she just seems like she thinks she's too good for it.

  • I agree with Skully

Like Fawlty Towers and The Office, quit while you’re good

Return of The Jedi and that’s it, anything after is just W A N K!

  • she just seems like she thinks she's too good for it.

What a bizarre accusation, how does that manifest itself in her acting?

  • Not as good as Paddington 2.

  • Not as good as Paddington 2

Good to hear, loved Padd2 and I really don’t want to see TLJ dubbed in español I’ll wait til the hype is over..

  • Without wanting to derail the SW thread, was thinking about what could have improved Paddington 2 last night.

Answer, had it been possible, is Ollie Reed as Knuckles McGinty.

  • Underwhelming, not terrible just a bit mediocre. The jokes were scattered around the script by a drunk ewok.

To me it felt like it missed direction and purpose. It kept me entertained but would have been better if they wrapped it up under 100 minutes.

I’d love to see which direction someone like Sam Mendes or Christopher Nolan would take.

  • I too would be interested to see what Nolan would do with it, although I bet it would be clever but soulless like all his films.

  • Rey is just not a compelling character to my mind, she has absolutely no gravitas. When I watch her I’m constantly aware of someone acting

    totally this

Ah, someone else noticed it also.
I wish the story was just more focussed. The Casino scene was horrible and felt crowbarred in, stylistically much too similar to TPM. Talking of which, did they use Maul's death on Snoke as an echo to the wasting of another great villain too soon? Those bloody birds, Luke's shoulder brush and flying Leia need to all get in an unfathomably vast puddle.

Overall though, some great cinematography and genuinely funny moments. Will undoubtably watch again. Probably enjoy it a bit more than having a crick neck for 2.5 hours on a school night.

  • In a interview before this came out she said and I quote "For me, I didn’t really know what I was signing on to." Which to anyone even if they aren't a star wars fan know what star wars is.

To what I've said is that now she's got a bit of fame from it she feels she's too good for it and having seen her in Murder on the Orient express she's might be desperate to return when people realise she's just a bit one dimensional.

  • the new space wars is quite enjoyable, shouty space pilot man appears to be modelled on michael gove who's entire story arc highlights the massively damaging consequences of not being circumspect, thinking you know more than everyone else and relying on blind confidence in your own abilities as sufficient justification for forging ahead with a demonstrably terrible, terrible idea that causes untold misery to innocent folks all over the shop.

it's also full of laughably massive plot holes but space wizards and lazer swords so it doesn't really matter.

strong pro-vegan message as well. good to see George Lucas back in his A-game.

  • feeling the same as what others have said on ere - didnt like it.

    anyone else feel that :-
    a) fynn made no difference to the movie and plot whatsover, he could have not been in it, and that little woman too, and things would all be the same - so pointless
    b) Rey - a lot of pointless stuff here too - the Dark Mirror scenes - did nothing for the plot or moving it forward, she didnt turn Kylo Ben in the end, why was she in the guns of the Falcon instead of flying it at the end - was her pivitol role to get Luke to do his force thing? i got the feeling YODA persuaded him to do that!
    c) the crawling along just ahead of the big baddie fleet was utter nonsense, they could hyperspace jump to just ahead of them and surround them
    d) the way to kill an entire fleet is to hyperspace into them - perhaps they could have done that with 1 of the ships right at the start of them trying to escape, instead of letting them blow up
    e) why did the new-leader-woman keep the fact there was a secret base they were heading to from Poe and everyone else - just to annoy him? just to make everyone in the Resistance think they are all going to die.
2 star wars get of jail free clauses for technology used :-
    f) cloaking ships from sensors for shuttles to get away/inside the battleship - never heard of that before
    g) tracking in hyperspace - never heard of that before, but they suddenly know how to disable it

and after ALL THESE DECADES, the Empire (sorry i mean First Order) cannot build any defences against a single plucky x-wing fighters et al to destroy there ships

oh yeah final thing - "battering ram lazer" - errr they can blow shit up from orbit, they had no reason to land

considering its supposed to have been a long time in production, scripted etc etc , it was sloppy and cheap script and plot wise

    and another final thing
Luke was consumed by fear in both trying to kill kylo and in his entire life on the island - so he's gone to the Dark Side then - cos thats what Yoda was banging on about and thats what turned Anakin?

  • and just one more final thing.

Luke at the end was to give the Galaxy "Hope" by standing up to the Empire (sorry i mean First Order)

yet actually what did he do?

    he faked it

    he wasnt there

how does that bring Hope to everyone, the kids playing with the toys at the end "i step out against the Empire only to know i'm not really there and just miles and miles away faking it"

  • It was absolute fucking bollocks. Every time I think about it I remember another cretinous detail.

  • Laser battering ram FFS LOL

  • It was absolute fucking bollocks. Every time I think about it I remember another cretinous detail.

Totally this. Have been muttering to myself all day. Wife thinks I'm (even more of) an idiot for caring.

  • yeah you're probably over thinking it lads.

  • You're under thinking it, dolt.

  • righto.

well i enjoyed it. silly movies anyway.

  • Ha ha. You're possibly right.

  • also - it had adrian edmonson in it.
