Dude, if you were as sensitive to this as you are to every time someone makes out all scousers are thieves, or dodgy as fuck, then you might be able to get your head around it.
But since you won't make that connection and scouser's aren't systematically demonised, jailed, and/or killed for having an annoying accent rather than the colour of their skin, you can still get on your high horse about it, and hold your hands up like, "what's there to be offended about".
If I were being sensitive I would say you're just as unconsciously racist as Griezmann, and anyone else who decides to black up, and then gets upset when people call you on it, because you know "it's all just a bit of fun, where's the harm in that".
As a white male, who gets the benefit of 300 yrs of racism, you don't get to tell anyone whose dark of skin, what they can or can't be offended by when it comes to race. Because you know that's kinda fucking racist as well. -

That's just unfair - he's only been banned from LFGSS for racism two or three times, he's sure to have learned his lesson.

It's a late comer but that is definitely my most enjoyable moment of lfgss.com 2017.
-
• #139905
So should Griezmann have gone dressed as Larry Bird then?
-
• #139906
Are you seriously not getting this? 🤔😒
-
• #139907
He can go as a Harlem Globetrotter. He doesn't need to paint his skin black.
Pretty fucking simple.
-
• #139908
OK so let’s look at the Little Britain character:
Is this racist or not? Seriously, what is the difference? Griezmann is a racist yet David Walliams a comedy genius? 🤔

Last episode aired nearly 12 years ago.

David Walliams is not a comedy genius and blacking up is not OK...
Simple...

@Pistanator I think the world may be leaving you behind.
-
• #139912
Plus there’s millions of white’s that get into costume/character to impersonate Prince/Michael Jackson etc all over the world and make a living off it
Racist?
I’m struggling to see where the line is here
-
• #139913
Millions think he is. Whatever, he’s blacked up...so the question is, how can he ‘get away with it’ and not get pulled up on it?
-
• #139914
It's based on the way white entertainers historically blacked up to poke fun at what was seen at the time as an inferior race. See the black and white minstrel shown. This has meant that the act of blacking up has taking on racist undertones and has become very offensive.
-
• #139915
Is ‘whiting up’ OK then like the Wayans in White Chicks?
-
• #139916
pisti's still riding a bianchi concept
he's stuck in 2009

They’ve said more recently that there are sketches they wouldn’t do now...
-
• #139918
I don’t think anyone liked that film.
-
• #139919
And you still support Liverpool cos they were a big club in the 80’s, not any more...get over it
-

Nicely said @cornelius_blackfoot
Its about people in power dressing up as people not in power and not knowing what it's like to be not in power. Or something like that. And laughing.
-
• #139921
Comedy is about laughing at those in power, it's about using jokes to say things you couldn't normally (becAuse they're jokes and it's csrnivalesque and it's about the jester etc) bout those who rule and crush and dominate.
-
• #139922
Also, I feel that me explaining this is about mansplaining whitesplainy as Cornelius nailed it.

undertones
Bit more than that... I find this conversation amazing, is it the 1970s (again)? Are we in an episode of 'Til Death Us Do Part?
-
• #139924
I'm intrigued, are you still struggling with this @Pistanator?
-
• #139925
I don't care who he goes as, as long as he doesn't put boot polish on his face, and pretend he's black.
It's offensive, end of!
There's no fucking picking examples of this comedian or that celebrity doing it to try and explain it. If you're white and you're blacking up, in a society where black people are other, oppressed and criminalised for the colour of their skin, then it's wrong.
They shouldn't do it, and you shouldn't try to rationalise it, figure it out, or make a joke out of it, just take it on board that it's wrong and move on.But you won't so until this blows over I'm out!
A matey did it for Leicester on Saturday too, got a yellow for diving - guaranteed he won’t get a ban
Niasse though....
