  • So I came here to ask about stopping a daruma moving/rattling about like fuck. Seems so lo-fi to have to stack and pack tons of washers everywhere to keep it still, and then there's the problem of the daruma swinging/rotating on the brake bolt axis.

I fucking hate darumas they cause more problems than they solve.

  • Could use the cork hack a few pages back? Hollow out a cork to the diameter of the daruma bolt and have notches in the eye end of the cork so the daruma eye is is almost completely encased in cork with the brake bolt running through a groove? Apparently corks fit steerer tubes very well, and you should minimise rattle space if you bodge this well. Excuse the shit drawing, but something like this

  • Darumas are designed to snug the fender right to the underside of the fork, I think the current penchant for more closely following the tire profile means that people are using them on bikes that they may not be appropriate for. If you shortened the daruma, snugged the fender and adjusted all other distances to match (because matching) would that solve the noise, or am I reading you wrong?

  • Problem Solvers fender flute if the gap is massive and steerer is 1 1/8". Pricey though. I got a local machine shop to turn a bit of nylon into a custom plug with a threaded hole underneath which I then filed to the right angle. This is why Thorn style eyelets under the crown should be mandatory on everything.
