Ah, that makes more sense. Those Continentals and their supported audax... poule mouillée

I've entered that KW 200 as well. Any other 200's in Feb/March starting within an hour or so of London worth doing? More climbing the better. Doing Mallorca 312, so need miles in the legs by end of April.

Ha!
Yes, a cross between a long distance cycling event and a package holiday -

Kennet Valley Run from nr Reading in March is a good ride, but pretty flat and quick.
If you're not chasing audax points, then lots of reliability rides on all sides of London and they're usually both hilly and easy to get to. Mine is on 14 Jan, the Willesden one is usually mid-Feb. Harp is sold out, but there are others. Hemel one is good (prob late-Jan/early Feb).

Great stuff. I'd forgotten about the RR's, so will check those too.

Is anyone riding The Poor Student on 6th Jan?
-
• #7309
I'd enter soon if I were you.
-
• #7310
Yep, I've entered.

Unless it's got AAA I'm highly unlikely to ride it this season. There's a few AAA 300s I can see as perms, but Dean is the only one I can feasibly pull off in one day (inc travel).
I don't have a gps for DIYs so can't goods that route. -

It's amazing what a new bottom bracket can do! Finished in good times and my legs feel really quite fresh considering.
Despite 3 spills (UP(!) Chart Lane, by Hever and then the last drop back into Green St Green), I've made it back in one bruised piece.
Both back lights are damaged, scratched up my saddle, tore my tights and my jacket has a hole on the elbow, but I am fine, if not a little sore.Be careful kids, it's slick.

Ooh - the Shark is up on AUK website.
Easter Monday.
All signed up. -

In.
That's April's RRtY attempt sorted then. I am terrible at climbing but quite familiar with those on the Shark's route. Hope I don't die.

Looking for a calendar event in Feb. Has anyone ridden Winter Boat Ride or Chiltern Grit? Any good?
-
• #7316
Of the two, the Boat Ride is a better route.
-
• #7317
ok, cheers
-
• #7318
Yes. I've done the Boat Ride a lot and it's a good 200k gap filler.
Chiltern Grit is out and back out and back out and back and I reckon people find it easier to bail at the pub.

Felling all adventurous, I plan on riding AWE on Friday, but backwards.
For all you clever dicks, when I say backwards I mean Clockwise as opposed to Anti-clockwise.
Not pedalling backwards.Does anyone know if it makes it significantly different?

• #7320
What's AWE?
-
• #7321
A good 200 in January. Beddlestead Bower White Lane etc.
-
• #7322
Jazz and Java and the Battle Deli.
-
• #7323
You get it.
-
• #7324
I've actually made it from Battle to the start in Swanley without a GPS and only got lost a bit.

Around Weald Expedition.
3.5AAA goodness.
There were only 5o places. It's limited in numbers because it's organised in (unofficial) stages with accommodation for each night included.
