  • Haha nah just looking to grow the Ti stable and ditch the carbon...

  • Rim or the Disc?
I can't say I blame you! I've had to stop myself midway through various thought processes, as to how I could pitch it to my wife haha

  • if you overlook the poor bar tape job

That's ok, because you need to unwrap it and level the handlebars/levers.

  • Might just be the angle of the pics but the shifters are the same level both sides. I'll probably play around with bar angle etc after some decent rides.

  • The disc one however also tempted to get a rim brake Waltly made up instead.

  • Snap. Saving grace for me was maybe a touch too small.

  • It's the perfect size for me. Main issue is the lack of headset and compatible forks. Hardly any straight steerer carbon disc thru axle ones apart from the Van Nicholas one which you can't buy separately from the frame.

The middle one looks like the one you're looking for :)

  • Indeed, not sure what model that is though!

  • It's a Columbus Futura Gravel in the middle of that pic.

  • Cheers, no longer need it but useful for future reference

  • @Saffronspokes Do you have a bette quality version of those "blue" prints? I'm looking for some dimensions on those flat mount taps in the rear.

  • Drop me a pm and I can email over the pdf

  • Mudguards fitted, front brake leak sorted, several rides under the belt...The bike is awesome :)

  • That came out sweet looking. Nice mudguard job as well!

  • Thanks, was a bit of a faff fitting the guards. The front one needed a lot of trimming and I had to use a load of spacers to tighten the curve on the rear and stop it touching the front derailleur. Now fitted they're great though, plenty of coverage and bags of room between the tyre and guard.

  • This is beaut mate, looks bang on. Hope you gets lots of fun miles out of it, really looks like a do it all bullet proud build :) T

  • new shimano 11 speed front mechs pretty much solve this issue which is nice, plus built in cable tension

  • Awesome and informative thread.
How is the ride though? And what was the total price breakdown if you can share?

  • Most importantly the ride is great! Super comfy, great clearances and stiff enough to be able to put some power through it.

The build came in pretty economically mainly through picking up bits and pieces second hand and some existing bits I had. I went a bit extravagant on guards, headset and cages but overall it was a lot cheaper than something equivalent from Planet X, Kinesis, J.Jack or Enigma. If you want a detailed breakdown drop me a pm.

  • Tapered head tube? Couldn't find any info on that fork.

  • It's a straight 44mm headtube with an external hour glass taper. Fork is tapered and I'm using a Chris King Inset 7 headset. You have to email Hongfu directly to get details / order that fork.

  • Ah I see, thanks. I haven't built a modern bike since tapered steerers became common.

  • my 2015 caad10 disc is post and 140mm standard F+R. rear post mount on my felt nine1 is also 140mm (very strange for a mtb)... post mounts can be 140mm or 160mm

edit: I see everyone has already answered this... sorry for harping on about it

  • great thread @Saffronspokes . happy you got it sorted!
