• The ETA stendardo has been perfect til recently. Maybe some vibrations or something from moving stuff, because it seems to bave gained four or five minutes. No time lost or gained wearing almost exclusively since August, but now this. Not sure how gradually it's gained it, but definitely in the last few weeks.

Must be a mechanical watch thing across all movements.

  • Keep an eye on it each day and see how much it deviates. It could be magnetised, or could have a hairspring issue if it took a very hard knock at any point.

Seikos in general don't seem to run very well unless they are in very good, clean condition. The cheaper mechanical movements seem to have a relatively high failure rate. In general, Seiko movements run with a lower "amplitude" ie. the balance does not swing as strongly as a similar Swiss movement.

  • Thanks. Pretty much as I guessed. It's been on my wrist and I've been lazy so no real traumatic swings or knocks.

I was thinking it could be from not removing it the last few days and using the shoe finisher. The vibrations from the rough band and polishing wheel are somewhat strong. It could also be I set it a couple minutes ahead of iphone time and forgot.

Will keep an eye on it.
