It's not rot but more wear and tear. That area is nearly always a high friction area.
And it can be repaired. Nudie jeans in Soho have a darning machine and I've seen repair much worse. Almost seamlessly. -

Well, no one I know who washes their denim has had a crotch blow out sooner than the rest of the item, maybe it's partly down to them not wearing jeans when they're seriously cycling.

Stop cycling. Go vegan. Get skinny thighs. Jobs a good 'un.
-
• #2831
Only Nudie jeans though. They wouldn't touch a nice pair i have of non Nudie.

All of my trousers go in the same place. Suits, a nice pair of tweeds. And all of my jeans. It's a cyclist thigh thing. Over sized adductors.

£25 crotch repair from Son of a Stag... it's the way forward!!! All my pairs have gone in the crotch over the years, if you want the fades you should want to get with selvedge, it's a necessary evil I'm afraid... if you don't, then there's no point in spending more cash on good denim.

Get them darned before the issue.
Get a looser fit
Wash them and air dry regularly
I never bike in my good jeans. Expecting 100% cotton jeans to survive cycling is crazy.
You're not paying for durability unfortunately and especially not if you're biking regularly in them. If you wanted durable work jeans they'd have some stretch, be heavier weight, and fit loosely around the ass and crotch. AKA Carhartt.
If you want jeans to walk around in all day, stretch is the wat to go. There are plenty of good looking stretch jeans.
Raw denim is not a daily all day on the bike item. Mine last a decade.
Again, I darn then before the issue also. I darn both knees, crotch, and under the point parts of the pockets.

Just get them patched up. You can get it done at SofS or most dry cleaners etc will be able to do a decent enough job.

darned
Cheers.
Google led me to this: http://welldresseddad.com/2015/10/31/get-your-fscked-jeans-darned-well/
Which lead me to this: http://www.selfedge.com/index.php?route=information/repair
Just need to make a call on whether $40 is worth spending VS. just buying a pair of Levi's or Uniqlo.

Plus others will find the receipt for "crotch restoration" amusing.

Just on the off chance that anyone's thinking of using the Nudie repair service in Soho, I took a pair of Lee 101z into the Chinese dry cleaner round the corner in D'Arblay Street for some repairs - I've used them for years. There was a stack of jeans from the Nudie shop being worked on, so it might save a few quid to cut out the middle man.

• #2849
Maybe, except that the Nudie repair service is free.

Ah, not being a Nudie owner I didn't know that.
From what I’ve read it’s all about the crotch rot. This seems to most often happen to denimheads who refuse to wash their jeans.
