Last week G and I played some of Wayne's bright times mixes loudly across a valley in southern France and raised a coffee to him (and a glass or two of blanquette). Have to confess to a little tear watching people - who didn't get the chance to know him - dance to his selection. Miss ya gaffer.

I thought some of those who posted here, might be interested in a reissue of BDW Free As A Bird jersey.

I don't like doing the whole "hey i remembered someone who's not here" thing, but it was such a hit of two people who aren't here any more.

In the last two weeks, I saw someone who reminded me of Wayne walking down Kirkdale in SE26. It's highly unlikely he'd be here, the coffee shops are shit (and closed - it was night time), the pubs are rubbish, and there's no real reason to be here. But there was a bloke with a beard and a hat that made me double take. CLEARLY it wasn't him. The hat was orange. Like. You know. ORANGE.

Then within a couple of days I thought I saw Dwayne at Elephant and Castle roundabout. Clearly it wasn't him. Obviously. Why would Dwayne be wearing terrible overshoes, terrible commuter clothes, and riding a cheap piece of shit Carrera halfords road bike? Irony?

Anyway. It wasn't them.
I still miss them.

I wore a jacket from Wayne on Tuesday, over the top of a 531 shirt I got off Dwayne. It was an accidental pairing but it did make me do an 'awww'.

Made me happy to wear my CUTTERS T-shirt to West’s birthday, probably where I first met the gaffer 9/10 years ago. For someone that I saw so infrequently I miss him greatly.

I guess this comes very late, I’ve read through these amazing comments & have to agree with all. I can formally let you know that Wayne had a brain haemorrhage, apparently he wouldn’t have known anything about. He realised he wasn’t well as he had been checking up on his symptoms he thought he had flu. I am now in the process of designing a headstone. I would like o racing bikes carved into Marble & CS Grupetto colours added in, as that was Wayne. I am not talented in art, but if anyone on this forum is, please contact me on jtiebas@icloud.com, as I’d like to get the headstone made. I know it’s a big ask & I’m happy to pay. Thanks Jenny

I suggest you talk to Ricky Sampson or raise this through Grupetto - there are many designers in the club who may want to contribute or work on this. You won't need to pay, and we will make sure it's done right, the way that Wayne would have wanted.
