Fuglybike in winter mode. Just need some flaps. The byways were a flipping nightmare to remove. As if they had bonded to the rims. Was close to cutting them off. Would like some studded tires, but i did 40ks on snowy, icy country roads yesterday on these without a hitch.

So a pedal just fell off my pub/pissing it down bike. I guess whoever put it on either cross threaded it or put a drive side pedal on the non drive side crank. The threads of the pedal and the cranks are both fucked. I don't really want to buy new cranks and pedals for a bike that cost me £25. If I glue the pedal back on, will I explode and die?

Depends what glue

Pedals are L/R specific so you can’t put them on the wrong side. If this has happened on the NDS you could find a secondhand arm and pedal cheap?

I have two different sets of wtb tyres both are impossible to get off setup tubeless. I use a small flat head to carefully start which helps.

And on how clean the surfaces are before bonding.

Ah right. Fuck knows what's happened then. If I were to glue the pedal back on (assuming I can force it back on), which glue is the best to try? Cheap nds crank and pedal isn't a bad plan b though!

Did that (worked) but damaged the bead and scratched the rim..
I enjoyed the tires but might swap for gravelkings. Find them easier to fit.

^^ If one side was put on wrong, should you not check the other?
-
• #117842
I probably should!

if it works, don't touch it is a maintenance motto I have long trusted

For me it’s usually laziness over trust.

I had a similar problem once. A friend who is an engineer suggested
threading the pedal on the back of the crank in order to cut a new thread.
I tried it and liberally applied loctite - it seemed to work for a while. -

Yes indeed
-
• #117847
Some of my previous customers would beg to differ. I've seen pedals forcefully threaded on the wrong way more than once.

Crank is most likely alloy and pedal probably steel. I'm betting the pedal threads are fine once you pick out the bits of thread from the threads.

Less faff than trying to find a single arm that matches the length of your BB and certain not to result in your bollocks and/or teeth getting up close and personal with your bike!
A decent, independent LBS will sort you out.
