How do you submit, im struggling for the word really, a report/essay/study to parliament?
Do I need some sort of petetion to submit and then the essay attached?
Do I just contact my MP with the whole thing or just an outline?
The essay isnt even close to being finished but is something Im taking quite seriously and wont be submitted for some time.Tldr; how do I get my whingey little voice heard at a parliamentary level??
What is it about? Is it about a local issue? If so, you could initially try to submit it to your local councillors. They hold surgeries and you can speak to them there. Many also publish phone numbers, but going to see them in person is usually better. Check whether you need to book for the surgery, as they can sometimes be very busy, especially if a lot of people come about the same issue.
If the Council isn't the right recipient, why do you want to submit it to Parliament? Could there be another authority who'd be a better recipient initially? Or a charity working on the same thing, if it's a nationwide issue or of a fairly general nature?
I'd only go to the MP if it's bigger than just local, or can't be worked on by councillors or some other organisation. Basically, escalate only after you've taken the initial steps, even if you know they're likely to be unsuccessful. It's important to show you've gone through due procedure.

Does anyone on here have an American Express 'The Platinum Card' (the one with the spendy yearly fee).
If you have a bit of time this week and want some beer tokens in exchange for answering some questions, drop me a PM.

My laptop died.
I removed the harddrive, it works fine.
I've got a 'communicator' which is just a dock you can attach to an HDD and access via usb.
I don't think I can boot into windows os from usb but I'm not sure if I could access and run programs on my housemates lappy from my HDD.
Google says it might work but slow, that's for a normal use external storage. Is it even different?TLDR; can I run a program on a laptop from another HDD from another laptop still with Windows n that on.

Your name is a clue - registry entries are going to be the PITA. There are versions of some Windows applications which can be run from USB attached external drives, but they have to set up to do that ab initio. The Windows install on the laptop won't know where the application files on the external drive are.

Why exactly do you want to do this? Got an essay due or something?
In most cases it's going to be easier to just temporarily install it on your housemate's computer.

Is it windows 7 or higher? If so it might work, it's pretty good for auto-installing the essential drivers.

This should work. F12 to choose a one-time boot device just after startup on almost all PCs. Avoids mucking about with BIOS.

Sometimes but this is asking for trouble if e.g. your version of Word overwrites preferences for my version of Word. I would probably not lend you my laptop to do this.

If you had an old, paid for version of some now horrendously expensive bit of software and don't have access to the installer.

I'd use VirtualBox or VMWare to make a virtual machine and copy from your now-USB HDD onto the VM's disk image. The computer running VirtualBox doesn't need to be Windows. This is as close as you'll get to resurrecting your old working environment without fixing the laptop.

Creating a new user on the laptop and logging in to that would prevent such issues, as well as hiding the lap top owner's files from the guest user.

Yes. Depending on the program.

It was a bike fitter than put me on the 100mm -6 degree on the tarmac.
I guess my next question is, if I were to ride a -6,-8 degree stem which would mean around 40mmish lower on the front end. How would be the negatives to this? Would it just be super uncomfortable, or is it just the way they wanted the bike to be? Lower and aggressive? There is only one size up after this one and the reach is a beyond my current on the tarmac.
Is there any negatives to riding a positive degree stem, other than it looking terrible?

My fatbike needs a chainguide and having fitted Cannondale Hollowgram cranks to the BSA 100mm shell using a BSA30 bb, I don't want to mess up the spacing with the bb-spacer-style chainguide I had before.
Frame has no front mech mount.
The seattube-clamping chainguides I've seen don't have an easy way to handle a 67mm chainline.
I could use a directmount-style chainguide, but the only seattube-clamping directmount adapters I've seen for sale in the UK are Problem Solvers at £35, which is a lot for a clamp.

Any way I can bodge that to fit a braze-on FD mount?
-
• #87975
Why can't you just use a FD Band on adapter?
Swapping a groupset on a Cinelli Gazzetta.
I cannot seem to get a standard gear ferrule to fit neatly into the chain stay stop:
It doesnt seem deep enough for a ferrule to fit neatly into.
Any idea to what ferrule is needed?
Jon
