Yep - that's what I've done and looks pretty neat. Put some heat shrink around the hydraulic hose and the di2 cable together, then just split near the join. I've twisted the di2 grommet upwards, and it seems pretty tidy in place.

"Snap retainer", ie safety clip to prevent the screw from falling out.

So you went over the downtube? I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

@coldharbour Can I pick #020 up from Canopy tomorrow night?
Or is that the one being raffled?
-
• #1831
Yeah that's right, I've not shrunk said heat shrink yet (waiting for some flanged bolts to connect the hoses to the levers). It looks quite tidy though, since everything is black on the frame there, and the holes aren't that far apart.
The grommet angle makes quite a bit of difference since it dictates which direction the cable leaves the frame, so if you can twist it around so it directs the cable over the down tube it'll be much tidier. Better than splitting around the headtube IMO anyway!

Sorry I have used a non shimano one, which was 25mm in length. The 23mm bolt length would be the right one.

• #1833
That should be fine ;)

Awesome, thanks

As if you hadn't been harrassed enough with this blast from the past nightmare flyer....... HERE IT IS AGAIN!
Head on down for dangerously strong beer, chit chat, shit chat, raffle of a frame and wicked merch!

Not been enough props for the flyer. Reminds me of some of the best in hip hop world..

I love that cover. Well justified no 1 in this list http://www.complex.com/style/2013/08/the-worst-hip-hop-album-covers-of-all-time/big-bear-doin-thangs
(and thank you - the flyer is some of my best/worst work. It's amazing how much quicker it is to photoshop when you're free to make reckless use of magic wand tool and use layer effects to excess) -

But what does it snap into? I got a similar looking bolt with spyres, but the holes are blind and there's no obvious release mechanism for any kind of "snap".
-
• #1839
Sorry, I wasn't clear: the wire clip (the snap retainer) attaches to the "little nubbin".
Item 26.

That seems to be applicable only if you're using the adapter for the bigger rotor, without the adapter the bolts go into blind holes in the caliper body and DJ could have just gone to his local hardware store and bought some :)

So why did trp send me bolts with no snap collars? That even worse than shimano sending me a useless lockring with every single rotor!
P.s. @coldharbour is there any chance of getting a pin if we can’t make it to the party?

If we're going down that rabbit hole, why did anybody bother inventing new brake attachment systems after IS was agreed 17 years ago?
-
• #1843
If you don't use the adaptor you fit no.19, instead of no.26.If you don't use the adaptor you only fit no.19, instead of nos.19 & 26.*
But I don't see why threadlock and regular screws couldn't be used, at least in the case of the forward screw, which doesn't have a safety clip fitted in either case.
Especially at £6 a pop.
However, it's not my bike so I'm inclined to err on the side of caution...
*Edited for clarity.

Just like we've been doing for 17 years with IS mount...
If you don't use the adaptor you fit no.19
So now you need a pin punch to take your brakes off?

Unless Post/IS mount, but threadlock is off the menu regardless.
So you only have a safety on one screw: even if they insisted on a clip or wire for one, I can't think why threadlock wouldn't be recommended for the other.
Not sure what "temporary tightening" is supposed to mean.

Deadly combination of heat and gravity?

Nanny state. Now that we voted for brexit you can just use wood screws, nothing bad will happen.
-
• #1848
But yeah I'd just glue the fuckers in. If it was my bike.
-
• #1849
The shimano bolts come with threadlock on.

You work for Magura and I claim my five pounds.
I had an issue with a front one, not long enough, ended up using SKS mudguard bolt for a year ..
