Here is a short video shot on my Gopro 3+ of my B&M Lumotec IQ2 U showing the difference between high and low beam.
The apparent lack of breadth in the video is down to the camera sitting on a stem cap mount which brings the shifters and my hands into shot.
You can see how the light is powerful enough to pick up the detail in the grass verge.

Late to the party, but my USB werk failed less than a week into a tour, after some prolonged rain. Not sure if rain was the cause though.
It never recovered, even when fully dried out weeks later. Returned to spa cycles. They sent off to B&M who have agreed it's fooked. Refund imminent. -

So, I’d like get a dynamo wheelset for my new rando bike. I’ve looked at JRA and Hunt. Any other options in the same price bracke? I’d rather not build them myself.

SJS or Spa? (CBA to compare prices)

Had a look but they all seem a bit heavy, great for touring I'm sure but I'd like to keep the set below 2 kg at least.

Thinking I need a dynamo for my talbot. want it for lights and charging USB shit.
Mainly my vape obviously.
Needs to be thru axle.
Ideally 24h as I run dumb carbon wheelz for instagram points. What do I need?
Does such a thing exist?I don't know what I'm doing.

SP and SON do thru-axle versions. What size TA? SP cater for both 12 and 15mm and have an adapter for 9mm QR. I have one of these.
-
• #1038
12mm I think.
24H is going to be my downfall isn't it.

• #1039
go SON or go HOME

Have you ever ridden fast enough to get yours to power the light?

I emailed them about it and got:
"24H and 28H can be difficult. They are not popular spec. So maybe you need to order directly from SP. Just for your reference, the price at SP online store includes shipping cost."

• #1042
yes, its very bright
-
• #1044
oh no I meant they are all good but only SON comes in 24h and is prettiest of them all.
-
• #1045
SP do 24h

Folks in the wheelbuilding thread have been discussing the issues with low spoke count dynamo hubs. The narrow flange spacing can lead to flexy builds I think. thru axle should help stiffen things a bit, but I think there is a reason most hubs come in higher spoke counts. No personal experience though, just anecdotal.

SON looks nice.
but pricey.
but TBF if it's the right one I'll suck it up.
Either that ro build a new wheelset. touring fully loaded on carbon 24h rims off road probs isn't the smartest move.

Will I notice the difference between SP and Son?
Do either of them come in purple to matcfh my hope rear?
-
• #1049
no and no
I went SON because SP's lead time on 12x100 CL hub was ridiculous

FFS.
I don't want black or silver hubs. WTF is wrong with the world.
