stone cold classic

Agreed to go out of my way to King's Cross this morning to pick up something for the office but couldn't find the headband I usually wear to protect my ears when it's cold. Man alive were they red when I finally got in! Turned out it was totally pointless going there as I didn't have the right forms but I did quite like the bike-specific traffic lights in parts of Camden; I don't normally have a reason to cycle round there even though I don't live that far away and it was a pleasant surprise.
Also on my way in I finally saw the owner of this bike that's often locked up near work and had to stop to tell him I thought it was great.

Does 'this is why I haven't been out today' count as a commuting story?
6" so far and still snowing - I wasn't even tempted to dig out a car. -

Workcycles are proper functional city bike porn, but how tall was the rider - 7'?!

Steerage over the kiddy, no?

Ah yes the traditional timesheet challenge: find 7 hours billable sleep

I love being in-house. No timesheets!
A relief of tyranny feels like freedom.

Sure, but looking at the seatpin they must have pretty long legs - it looks higher than on my Kr8, and I'm 6'5".

Pretty harsh gloat post at the end there...

No snow to contend with in Leeds this morning, but a taxi protest has brought one of the main ways into the city centre (Kirkstall Road) to a halt.
Apparently they're protesting because they keep getting fined for parking in bus stops, & their way of retaliating to this is to bring gridlock to the Monday morning commute - not exactly going to ingratiate many to their cause.
Didn't impede my progress much thanks to the bus/bike lane. Did get into an argument with a driver stopped in the middle of the bike lane claiming 'it's not my fault I'm here'. Err, yes it is when you're the driver. Nice tailwind roughly cancels all the rubbishness out for me though.

I was hoping for snow like yesterday which was fun to ride in.

Commuted on the audax bike this morning because of the rain and general all-round gloominess.
Disc brakes, dyno lights, full length mudguards: smug/10

Same. I went to sleep with visions of rolling through crisp virgin snow in Brockwell Park.
No such luck.

First day of snow in the year - Thoughts again turn to wanting a MTB.

I can confirm no snow in south London, just lots of wind and cold, cold rain. Happily it's my day off so what do I care?

Only day of snow in the year

Grim this morning. Hopefully in the top 5 grimmest commutes of the season which means only 4 more mingers to go.
Still better than the train. Just hope my cacks dry out before hometime.

Bought a rain cape, tried it out today. Much prefer it to wearing a rain jacket and it kept my legs dry. Probably not the coolest thing I’ve ever worn... but functional. That and full length mudguards made my commute fairly enjoyable. 7/10

Indeed. The rain was extremely cold. Was hoping for soft flakes of snow. Bugger all cyclists out today, but grim.

It does seem that when there are fewer cyclists on the road drivers seem to be a bit easier going.
That said the fuck knuckle on the Boris bike that kept running red lights while his suit bag swung wildly on his handlebars making him unable to cycle in a straight line needed a kick in the head.
rip.
