Ok - prep work started today; first job strip and re-grease, well should've been but for dropping a few - my god those things bounce! - now significantly better/smoother with zero play and only the slightest slightest sound (wonder if it's a carbon thing) when bars turned with bike in stand, not when in wheels on floor.
Couple of small requirements upon closer inspection - saddle bottom cradle not posted so hopefully can be found and sent and slight crack in top band of saddle clamp - so after a new one 31.6/34.9 anyone? She's looking gorgeous mind with her well polished and Deda bars now on (need shiny screws for stem clamp).
More pics and updates dreckly π

I'd go for the ultegra group personally

Thanks Ben - a similar number of people favouring each groupset so seemingly it's a '6 of 1' personal choice & taste decision with no one option universally regarded as the obvious choice; have one for the Tiagra given that, and the fact the colour matches the frame and it's a little cheaper π

Full marks for being able to us the kitchen for the build. Good luck with the build.

Ssshhhh. She might find out - only there for the better light and promptly moved to the man cave with all bike related marks and odours painstakingly erased before her return.
Many thanks -

Eventually dug out a 1.85 and 1mm spacer so wheels and 11-28 cassette on and groupset attached (all 4700) - just cables, bar tape and set up required

I've used both groupsets and there's little in it feel-wise. Tiagra looks better thanks to the cable routing and chainset so I'd be going with that.

A la' picsπ. Looks good thus far

Ok. Almost done and despite a few issues with finishing kit and, in particular, being bamboozled by the front mech set up (why not have a horizontal arm so the cable pulls the meh in/out.
@Scilly.Suffolk pointed out that perhaps a converter adjustment was required and that along with 2or3 degrees rotation of the band and some fine tuning has resulted in slick shifting.
Just tape tonight and black cable ends and Selwin is born

Hi all -
after seeking parts to build my first bike (and own my first carbon framed bike) I've nearly purchased enough to build two bikes - rather easy to get carried away. The plan is to build two bikes and either
a) a bike each for myself and Curly - the brains, and tools , and garage, behind the operation
b) keep both as a winter and summer bike
More bits are in transit though I currently have a Planet-X nanolight frame, Tiagra 4700 full groupset and Fulcrum s-four wheelset plus extras enough to start building. The Ultegra BB I had in the shed fits like...well....fits like a BB that fits!
Carbon frame is sound bar a slight grumbling (no play) which means first job (tomorrow) is strip bearings, dismantle race and re-grease. Pics to follow tomorrow
First question - as I theoretically get first dibs on everything which groupo should I choose?
nick and working order.
Is it a no-brainer?
Thanks all and look forward to getting going tomorrow.
