Ok. Almost done and despite a few issues with finishing kit and, in particular, being bamboozled by the front mech set up (why not have a horizontal arm so the cable pulls the meh in/out.
@Scilly.Suffolk pointed out that perhaps a converter adjustment was required and that along with 2or3 degrees rotation of the band and some fine tuning has resulted in slick shifting.
Just tape tonight and black cable ends and Selwin is born
