15k today
Lots of news articles yesterday about it hitting $13.5k
More press == higher price
Tulips!

Tulips!
Just gotta time the market right.
No problem, it's easy. Private investors have a really great track record at that.

Just saw a colleague had emailed me 8 years ago about bitcoin. If only we'd thrown some money at it back then :)
-

I read something about them years ago when they were 50 cents or something, and thought it would be a laugh to chuck 50 quid at them. Obviously didn't, and whether I'd have kept hold of them to this point I doubt...
I bet there's loads of stories floating around like these at the minute :)
I felt for this guy chucking £4m worth on his computer when the price was at £1000... now, he's over half a billion down...

A lot of stories on Reddit about people who've spent the equivalent of $millions on pizza and weed just a few years ago.
-
• #757
I think I'd still prefer the pizza and weed. #doingitwrong?

http://uk.businessinsider.com/bitcoin-pizza-day-passes-2000-20-million-2017-5 was the classic for two pizzas bought for 10,000BTC
That's a cool $150m in today's money (if there was that much liquidity in the exchanges, I don't know how deep the order book is on most exchanges).

This is one of my old Bitcoin wallet addresses.

Imagine if I had saved all 900BTC rather then spent it :D

Now imagine the 424242 BTC that Mark Karpelès was in control of at one point on MtGox. $6.3bn
Or the original coins mined by Satoshi. They're worth about $10bn at this valuation.
My own personal "if only" is that I didn't set my home compute cluster onto Bitcoin mining all those years ago...

Id like to buy some other currencies what is everyone looking at now. I wish I had more that the little amount of bitcoin I have but hey ho thats how life works.
Just to highlight my point about other "cheaper" crypto.
If you'd bought $100 of BTC 6 days ago when you posted it would now be worth $160.
What has the gain in ETH / LTC / etc. been this week?
I'm not saying the moon is the only way, just that BTC is the one with the insane growth at the moment.

LTC is over 25% down I think.
Exchanges are starting to struggle under the interest. Even localbitcoins is pulling new registrations for 24 hours. Apparently new signups have been through the roof. I think we might see $20k before it sharts itself inside out.

Jesus, just hit 18k on Gdax.
-
• #764
GDAX has BTC at 19500 USD

1.5k in 6mins. Farrrk.
-
• #766
Its still $16k on some exchanges. People set up for arbitrage are laughing.
-
• #767
arbitrage is a much bigger gamble with 10+ minute transaction times.
Way too Billy Big Balls for my risk averse self.

Good thing I've fired up a new mining farm
Couple of warehouses stuffed with GPUs in China should do it
-
• #769
The coinbase website has gone down, just shows "Service Unavailable" at the moment.
-
• #770
GPU's don't even touch the sides any more. You can get 400 megahashes out of a GPU but about 15 Terahashes out of an ASIC
-
• #771
ASIC
Hmmm I know some guys who make those.
I wondered what the point was
Now I know

I use Kraken, which always struggles.
What's a killer is I tried so many times this morning to short ETH/BTC.
If it's not rude to ask and feel free to ignore; you mentioned you're often paid in BTC.
How do you and your paymasters manage in this incredible bull run? I'd have thought it puts everyone in a tough position.
Missed the boat on yesterday's order. Doh
