Worst case scenario, I run full outer all the way to the rear mech but I'd rather not introduce the extra friction, I don't want to end up with spongey or sloppy shifting.
I only ever shift down when I get to a hill. There aren't too many of those around so it doesn't matter. Just that it goes one ring to the other eventually
