Enhance 224 to 176. Enhance, stop. Move in, stop. Pull out, track
right, stop. Center in, pull back. Stop. ...
No doesnt look like an adapter -
• #129
Hmm - which would mean it is a 160mm fork despite Hongfu's claims...
-
• #130
On my Caad12 disc I ran 140mm front rotor with post mount, no adaptor.
-
• #131
Seeing as I've installed your old brakes on my fork and frame it means they're installed without an adapter. The fact that they clear and can handle the 160mm rotor means it can't be a 140mm forks as Hongfu claim.

Good luck speaking to HongFu and trying to sort something on that end.
-
• #133
Weird, I've put 160 on the front of mine, no adapter

• #134
Thanks....

• #135
What year is yours? Fork design might have changed. Mine was 2016.
-
• #136
No idea, its been painted a headache inducing orange/purple number. 2015 or 2016
-
• #137
Cannondale specify 140mm only on synapse front & rear. 160mm invalidates warranty. Maybe to do with clearance as always wondered
-
• #138
I still think you are worrying about a non-problem. Finish the build and ride the bike, and if it rubs then start worrying again :)
-
• #139
Almost certainly right! I think I wanted to flag it as a potential issue with Hongfu as soon as possible. Hopefully with a bit of tweaking I can get it set ok

My Pinnacle arkose has 160mm rotors with no adapter for a post mount and the clearance looks pretty similar. NEVER had any issues in 3.5 years.

Cheers, good to hear!

A brake saga and the absence of a certain person... :o)

This is disc brake talk. If someone was to mention c*nti brakes, he comes out of the woodwork
-
• #144
He did offer me a 140mm rotor though ;). Which I may take for the rear!
-
• #145
Indeed, they're good rotors too. I was going to take it off him a while back but I've only one bike with centre lock and that has new rotors already. Plus I'm having bad thoughts about selling them all and getting a brompton...

Fork compatibility issue solved by Hunt. They sent the following
We have experienced this issue with a few forks on the market - if the
bicycle fork was originally designed, prototyped and tested by the
fork manufacture with 6 bolt disc, or the standard Shimano centrelock
ring, and they have not considered the external tool centrelock lock
ring depth (needed for 12/15 thru axles) then this issue does occur.
Our wheels are the standard spacing as the rotor does have to line up
with the caliper spacing and the lock ring you have is the standard
Shimano thickness. We have seen this on Mason bikes as well as Genesis
Datums, some Whyte Forks and older ENVE CX forks in particular.A narrower lock ring will free up space near the fork leg and the closeness of the rotor to the fork is not a problem.

Do this, just keep the Arkose.
-
• #148
I wouldn't bother with that, Id sell that and keep the caad12. If I had a brompton, I'd want my only other bike to a decent road bike for club runs and weekend rides

Just need to fit mudguards and it's there (if you overlook the poor bar tape job)

Just in time to swap it for a VN ;-)
Nope, I’ve got 140 mm post mount brakes.
