Thanks, I think it's not so much about thickness it's just that it's cheap polyester. I wasn't sure if there were other materials that were more breathable??

My old Ikea one was a two in one jobby held together with velcro... when it got too hot/cold you added or took one away... from memory it wasn't that expensive
