Been using that combination for 3 years so far and I have serious negative blood flow issues. Win combo.
Pro team + arc merino liners. -

So what is the suggestion for this year? Has glovetec moved on? What does the hive mind recommend?
Chak + Mecha: Rapha Pro Team + liner

I thought I had things figured out this year, plan was waterproof lobsters over varying degrees of thickness liner gloves. But I can't find anything remotely close to fitting my apparently very large hands. Tried the largest Raphas and Hestras and they're not long enough in the fingers. Any suggestions appreciated!

I don't know about their UK availability, but GripGrab gloves are excellent and quite long in the fingers.

Weather in Abruzzo's too rubbish to cycle at the moment, been living in the sheepskin gloves. Tried the thinsulate motorbike ones but still felt a bit cold somehow. Will definitely retrieve my ski gloves from the UK asap.

I’ve got the Rapha pro team. They’re thin but really warm. Good fabrics. Not needed merino liberal myself.
Sadly I lost my old favourite rabs somewhere in Italy.

Anyone tried the Altura Nightvision gloves? They seemed to fit nicer than the others I tried but you never know how they´re gonna hold up.

Had a pair a couple years ago, they survived fairly well but the ones I had didn't live up to being so warm nor the waterproofing they claimed. But they were incredibly comfortable in milder weather.

Both craft and sealskinz also do lobsters. I have the old version of the sealskiz and they’re great, not sure about the new ones they don’t look thick enough to be warm to me.

Can anyone recommend some not particularly thick gloves for winter riding with some padding? I normally use Defeet's Dura (the wool ones) for all winter riding, even when it hovers around zero, but on a 200km yesterday they absolutely killed my palms because of the lack of padding. Don't really suffer from cold hands at all so don't need any "deep winter" things.

You can try wearing summer mitts if it padding underneath or over the top. Works well for me.

Cold finger sufferers have any of you tried the Assos bonkaGlove, Castelli Estremo, or Specialized Element 2.0? Or is there anything you'd personally recommend. Not looking for a lobster unless it's just the ring and little fingers bundled like the Specialized ones. Thumb insulation is incredibly important and would prefer if there was no seam along the outline of the thumb too. Price isn't so much of an issue (awaits a suggestion of some 2k mink gloves...)
For reference I've been through Planet-X convertible race glove (fine on very mild days), Gore Universal Thermo, Gore Universal Windstopper (+Planet-X race as a liner), Planet-X lobsters (with the race glove as a liner).

i picked up some sealskinz brecons.... toasty warm this morning and space for a liner if more warmth needed

I've got the Assos Bonka ones, they're very good.
Wore them this morning with the Assos liner. Garmin said it went to -6 and my hands were still warm. The Assos lobster claw thingies are actually pretty good as a third layer when it's cold and windy. They're surprisingly thin which means you can still move your hand.

Always get really (painfully) cold thumbs at the moment. Would any of the above help with that - am on a really tight budget :-(

I used to get such sore hands from the cold that it almost put me off cycling when the temperature dropped.
I make a conscious effort to shake my hands, grip the bars hard and clench my fist to get the blood flowing in my hands. It usually helps me get over the first hour until my hands acclimatise to the temperature.

Do the hand-shaky thing, that definitely helps! Maybe gloves aren't the problem, could just be getting old :-)

Been using the defeet non wool gloves for a while. They're pretty shit to be honest. Not very warm at all and a weird fit. The one good thing is that they're the best gloves for using a touch screen that I've ever used.

Thermal work gloves are my choice when dry but cold.
Plenty of grip and control and nice and warm -

I've got some Sealskinz Ultra Grip things this year. Much recommend. Particularly if you leave them next to the radiator over night. I now line up my shoes, hat and gloves all ready to be slipped on warm just before I leave door. Decadence.

Too late to the party, unfortunately, but the roadies on another forum I use really love the Castelli Estremos if you suffer from cold hands. I've got dhb Extreme which are really warm, but for me too warm for the 10 mile commute unless it's down below 2-3C.
Think @skinny recommended these and I like them if anyone is looking for new winter gloves
