  • Yeah, I don't really like 100w amps for that reason. They're too loud for modern (i.e. digital) rigs. They made a lot of sense back in the 70s when the PAs were just doing your singers voice but things have moved on since then and everyone's backlined now.

  • Yeah and the really big boys are all mic’d offstage with iems and a cab or two on stage for posing/feedback.

I’m baffled by the current Fender amp lineup. I want something classic and full sounding that will break up before I go deaf. Any ideas? Nice reverb is a plus...

  • Tweed or otherwise? My cornell tweed has a tasty powercut switch to drop the volumes to reasonable level and push the tubes.

  • I hate those bands who are dishonest about their rigs. Get me a band like Sleep or Boris who run a wall of amps plugged in, or a band like RATM who have a single amp plugged in and sound better than anyone. That dishonesty in rigs - either way around - is total bullshit.

I'm a big fan of the Fender Deluxe Hot Rod III, nice and warm. Bit too big for me at home so replaced it with a Blues Junior but it's quite tinny in comparison. Maybe it'll warm in.
