Income tax is the most fair tax too, it's been reduced massively and swapped for less progressive taxes, like higher VAT which affects those with less, more. Plus you only pay more on the higher amounts you earn, everyone complains that "oh no, I'll earn more hit a higher bracket, why bother earning more at all?" But you'll pay the same as everyone else on the first bits you earn and more on the higher bits you need less of, it's actually fucking fair and should be higher and maybe have a few more brackets, stick 90% on everything over a few million or something, who the fuck needs all that and if they're earning it they'll be able to earn plenty more so I can get free fags, beer and flat screen tellies.

Yep.

That was the first thing you wrote. Then you wrote it first again in your next post.
-
• #9030
yeah you kinda said that. twice. in separate posts.
-
• #9031
Nah.
The fairest tax is 100% inheritance tax.
Why should you get a headstart just cos your mum was rich?

As long as I can keep her ears I'm happy.

an educated society is a productive society.
But perhaps less economically so from a traditional 'common-wealth' perspective (as tax contributions would accrue to in my world, and I'm very happy to pay my share), as with education comes the recognition of powerlessness / disenfranchisement that many face, with the result being a choice to reject the societal 'game' (of mortgage / savings / retail-therapy / support of the service sector.) The danger then is falling government revenue and so an even worse erosion of services. Not shopping with the tax-avoiders also wouldn't then help, so is it a double bind?
I'm not in this group so much, but all my children are (better educated than me) and I don't hear much other than frustration, anger, rejection and a determination to pursue alternative, less selfish, agendas. And on reflection, for me, that's actually a good thing because no-one in 'power' seems to give a shit about them. -

Labour has always been cool.
"Ye were poor too"
Bit more to it than that.... -

^^ i'm sorry but i didn't understand very much of your post, then again i haven't spent a day in tertiary education. it shows.
-
• #9039
Was very much in support of what you said and it's my bad for becoming incoherent. Got an angry bee in my bonnet and went off on a tangent about some shit that makes me angry because my (very tertiary educated) kids are so frustrated about politics / political establishment that appears so dysfunctional and so they're likely to reject the 'you'll be more productive - because 'we' need you to be / you bloody well better be - as we're relying on you' line :-(

War On Drugs. And, by extension, 6 Music. I grew up with Parents who were big Bruce Springsteen / dire straights fans. I don’t need this shit plaguing my adult life too.
-

Hah I saw war on drugs a few years back and said “sounds like Bruce Springsteen” I got blank stares.
Thanks for confirming my fear.
On top of the Dave Cameron likes them/him -

People who keep piling dirty half-full cups and plates into an already full sink in the belief they're being seen to be 'tidy'.
It fucking infuriates me.
-

Urgh, I was so glad to see the back of my shared house days. I had a housemate who literally did no cleaning or tidying whatsoever in the 2 years i lived with him. Although my wife just leaves stuff out of the fridge all the time. Uses the milk. Stays on the side. Has some juice. Stays on the side. Infuriating.

A mate who likes them once berated me for likening them to Springsteen. He went on at length about them but in the end all I really took from what he said was that I should be saying they sound like Dylan produced by Springsteen.

Guys who drop chewing gum in urinals...see it regularly at my work and there's a bin in the toilet so act makes me think someone didn't get enough hugs as a kid
and i'm okay with that.
some of that extra money from you and i, not to mention increases in corporation tax. a better paid public sector = more money going back into the economy. austerity doesn't fucking work.
ok
trade unions are probably the only organisations standing in the way of the tory party and the bonfire of workers rights they have planned post-brexit - if we ever fucking get there.
such as?
