Changed frame, copied the measurements across as best as I could but the geometry is quite different so it could be related to that.

Where was the pain? Did you take into account zee anglez to put your saddle in same spot relation to BB?

I wouldn't be able to comment on the route you linked to, but will keep in mind for the future :)
280 miles is no mean feat, you're essentially looking at a 24h ride. For audaxing purpose I use 20kph average with breaks at a rule of thumbs but your mileage may vary.
Other coast to coast inspirations:
- Three Coasts 600 (hilly)
- East & West Coast 600 (less hilly)
Both are 600 but it should be possible to shorten them somewhat by "flattening" the loops if that makes sense. I did the 3 coasts and the route was cool. They will probably happen next year too if you're keen!

Kings, Castles, Priests & Churches just appeared on my radar. Might've missed the boat but tempting. 2hr drive over (no I'm not ECEing it), 10hrs riding or so and 2hr drive back...

Yes Westmalle Triple on tap at start.

That's a very, very, very bad idea.
'Relax' said the night man
'We are programmed to receive
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave! -

You definitely want to go for the flat white in Tournhout; and then you are only a few hours from the Westmalle on tap at the finish.

"No problem. All BRMs in Belgium (so 200 up to 1000 km) are open for entry on the day of the event. Only extra's (like sleeping arrangements, bagdrop, ...) can have a closing date and/or be limited in numbers. Entry fee for the "basic version" of the Borders of Belgium is 10 euro!"

I saw a geezer spinning up Ditchling with a cassette that was with no exaggeration bigger than my chainring.
A sight to behold.
We had a little chat about it as he was effortlessly spinning away. -

Most obvious places to stay would be Keswick or Penrith.
I've not done the route but it definitely has a few hills.
The full route there and back in a day would be too far but, say Penrith to Whitehaven and back would be a good day ride. -

Felt like it was behind the knee cap, I've had it a bit doing AAA stuff last month or so, but Friday it got to the point I couldn't consider carrying on.
I thought I had in relation to BB, but not so sure now. Going to do a flat 200 this weekend and see how it goes, if still getting pain will book in with a fitter I think.

Did you record saddle setback? Check it. Could be too far forward in relation to BB.
Presume you recorded saddle height? Check it anyway. Same crank length?
Could also be simple overuse if you've started doing a bunch of hilly stuff.

Signed up for the fast 400km this is not a tour today.
Thinking I can put a 11-40 on my audax bike for a 34/40 bail out gear.
Anyone else in for it? And any recommendations for reasonably priced 40c on/off road tyres?
-
• #7215
I did briefly look at their site but they'd not finished the routes.
How much off road is there in the 400k? Will you need that 40T?
-
• #7216
From yacf, the off road bits are Cors Caron nature reserve (near Tregaron), the Claerwen Reservoir track, NCR 818 Cwmystwyth - Llangurig cycle track, NCR 82 before Dolgellau, and the Elan Valley cycle path up to Craig Goch dam. One of those requires fording a river...
Apparently all the off road bits can be ridden in daylight for the 300, 400 and 600.
I could just about manage 20% climbs on gravel roads with a 34/32... but not several hundred k into a 400 on a fully loaded bike :-)

Furry muff - unlike old me the new me appreciates having lower gears, whether or not they get used.
The only thing even close to that big I've used was a 35mm Vitt Hypers so you might be better off asking in the Which Tyres thread or the Gravel Bike thread re: tyres.

that website is so meta it's actually pretty good !
with the possibility of a family pitstop at the 750km mark i'm tempted. -
• #7219
Thanks @cgg and @frank9755 - I think I might suggest we head up the the East coast with the families, ride to the North Sea and get some kip somewhere, then return the following morning. Or just get the family to meet us at the end. Decisions decisions! Lots of planning to do, so will doubtlessly be asking for more advice shortly. I'll be doing it on this. Should be able to pack enough for two days and a night in one pannier, although I do have a second:

Cold.
That is all. -

Yes mate. Got back at about 1950. Just made the 2009 from Orpington. Almost home.

Chapeau.

cheers!
I'm not gonna lie - it was horrible today.
Ice from the start going up Cudham North Lane. Bounced off Crowborough.
All the way to forest row, the wind was wicked cold. Had a lovely Xmas slice from Costa though. Properly nice.
Forest Row to Brighton was fine apart from the cunt in the red Kia, who passed way too close and swore out his rear window. I might have caught him up at the roundabout and might have given his rear panel a good whack. Maybe. Must have had a tailwind up Ditchling today.
Wind from Brighton to Balcombe was brutally cold - especially around the Dyke. This was a really hard section today.
Balcombe to Mayfield was good but cold.
Mayfield to Green St Green was cold.
My average moving speed today was a pitiful 19.9kmh. It was the first time I didn't get lost though. I'm gonna try without a route sheet for next months effort lol.One more AWE or MH and I'll have 3x3AAA too. Huzzar!
We were in there yesterday looking at getting her a Womens Diverge. In the flesh though the cheap one she was looking at isn't all that so I don't know now, we might have to up-spec her cycle scheme voucher to get something that I will allow to hang in my house. :)
I haven't smoked for a while. Since my asthma 'event' in Borrego I think actually.
