Do it. I'm on 35mm on my commuter and 25mm on my road bike and, although the commuter weighs about twice as much overall, if it's flat, it's just as fast at the same effort, corners better and is more comfortable/smoother. I'm going to take my road bike up to 28mm if they will fit.
What tyres are you using? Are you already using folding?

Contemplating going up to 28c from 25c on my pre cursa: for general road riding I reckon this is pretty sensible - anyone moved up and felt more sluggish as a result?
