I remember back in year 7 seniors we still had win 3.1 machines in the computer labs and in order to access solitaire we had to use some msworks exploit to trick windows into give you elevated write access to some system ini file to turn the games add-on back on , felt like a hardcore hacker aged 11 fucking up the IT depts hard work. no idea where the instructions came from but half our year could do it.
Sounds similar to us embedding programs into word documents to get round the run restrictions. Managed to get original Doom up and running with a 4-player network game for about half a year if IT lessons before being shut down!
