I've got a repeat prescription.

Just had a tasty remix of the Lidl Favorina (my go-to session mincer) with some Co-Op extra thick cream. All served cold.

That’s roughly 64g sugar per day. Or 15.2 teaspoons.
Probably fine.

First try of a New Zealand mince pie. Coupland's "Fruit Mince Tarts". Fucking tiny, thick pastry, over sweet filling. Not a good start. Have to call them fruit mince tarts here as a mince pie is a pie with minced beef (often with cheese) that is a staple lunch item. Need to test out the supermarket mincers next.
That is a AAA battery for size comparison.

I feel bad for you. The kiwis are so good at baked items I assumed they'd have this nailed.

Looks more like a fig roll.

Konditor & Cook today. £15 for 12 so definitely a premium offering but matched with taste. Astonishingly buttery.
Think I might have just gentrified this thread.

Saw they came out top in the Observer taste test. Personally, I'd rather have a large amount of mediocre mince pies than a couple of good ones.

There's room for everything here. No mincerism thanks.

I think what this thread shows is that the suppliers to the supermarkets, let alone local bakers, have upped their game. We no longer have to settle for 'mediocre'.
+1 for 'quantity' though.
If you've heard, through the tannoy, Noddy, Bruce, or og Live Aid,
it's time for 'two at a time'. -

I bought a sixer of Konditor & Cook poshos yesterday.
Fuck me they're good. Tenner for six though..
14 days late to this party! They're good aren't they!!
-

£10 for 6 is a terrible decision when you can get 12 for £15. Aren't you vegan?
-
• #865
Nope just veggie, eat a lot of vegan food tho.
I know, that's how they get you.. I will go back for 12 before Xmas though.

I just warmed up and delivered 6 hot home made mincers to my local fruit and veg shop/stall, Tony's in East Finchley. It was like I'd delivered iced water into the desert! Just started snowing on cue too! Then Noddy Holder and Slade came round the corner singing Merry Xmas Everyone and a half dozen reindeer got off the 143. I'm not kidding. (NOTE to self; check brandy quantity in recipe).

64g sugar per day
Hmmm, quite a bit. Same as 2 cans of coke.
Luckily I don't drink coke so that makes it ok.

Tesco have BOGOF on Mr Kipling ice tops (oo devisive).. 12 for £1.50!
-
• #869
Not one for me or the real purists and I say that's an unnecessary layer of sugar.
However, as I am going to make some mincemeat brownies, I will not judge Kipling too harshly.

If I'm paying £15 (£15!) for mincers, I want Melly-level service, snow and reindeer included. As it is now the OG season (though respect to the straight edgers waiting for Advent Sunday), I've just dug out the jar of mincemeat from the back of the cupboard and added a splash of booze, and have unearthed some pastry from the freezer... tonight, we mincer!

Look lush^^ Is there anywhere you can't put mincemeat?...
Had some absolute banging homemade style mincers over the weekend from our local butcher (still sweet, no beef here).
Held off posting about them here as I didn't grab a gram friendly photo. Alas, I scoffed them all before I got the lighting right. Maybe I'll get more if I can get home before the shop shuts. £3.50 for five. Not cheap, but #buyinglocal

^Those look good!
To all veganites (and those like me who are trying), I recently discovered that pre-made 'jus roll' pastry is dairy free.
Just like optimum protein intake, it depends upon body mass.
