Christmas Lights Ride 2017

Weather looks bad tonight so it will take place on the 20th instead

Shall we ride around London and look at the festive lights? I say yes! We'll start south of the river at the Scooter Cafe this year as it's closer to the parts of London that put on the best show (and weave down some quieter streets). Gathering at the cafe from 7:30, roll out no later than 8:30. We'll probably finish at that mega fairy-lighted pub close to Kensington, but happy to lead the group back to Central if needed. Might be chilly so bring something to keep yourself warm, like a jacket, a hip flask or some jolly goddamn Christmas spirit.

It would be nice to move back to the traditional Saturday night ride next year.

What’s happened? Footballers being accused of inappropriate sexual behaviour? People getting upset their chosen team are shit. Folks not understanding that shouting at a player on tv won’t be heard or have any effect?

Yeah I considered this, but found the last few years more places had their lights turned off in the weekend, so we get more dazzle-per-mile on a week day. Also when John led it the ride on Saturdays it was more "thematic" eg heading to Twinkle Park in SE etc, whereas this is more about lights I guess? But if people prefer a weekend could maybe see.

Is this a secret dig at pro cycling?

It's a busy week but potentially in for this year.

I am building a bike. It might be ready for this ride. That would be cool.

Although, it is a geared bike and this feels more like a fixed ride.

Love to join this again, but unfortunately Wednesday is family night for me, so no bailing on them this time round! This is an amazing ride! Look forward to all the pictures!!!

Digging out my lights and probably snow tyres

If it's raining I'm not going to lead the ride. But we can still catch a few festive drinks! - I suggest the Champion in Fitzrovia. Will make the call during the day on Wednesday.
